Leaving was tough. Not only was the summer filled with worry-free freedom, but fun jobs and lasting impressions. Living in the sorority house was unforgettable and the love I found while in college is irreplaceable. When seeing new freshman move-in as I was moving out, I was territorial - this is (was) my school.
I should probably mention what exactly I'm getting myself into. I'm going to be an intern with the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers - Pediatric Concentration internship...
- NO - I am NOT affiliated with the actual University of Michigan college - just the hospital and health systems.
- Please, don't ask me if I'm going to graduate school - I'm not.
- Furthermore - don't ask me for my football tickets - I don't get any.
Starting on September 8th, 2010, I will be starting a 10-month long, unpaid internship. It's an interesting process that the American Dietetic Association has come up with. Here are the steps I have taken - and must complete - to get my "Registered Dietitian" status, so I can practice:
- Graduate high school
- Complete an ADA accredited dietetics program at a university
- Complete a (INSANELY INTENSE) dietetic internship (DI) program application, spend lots of $$ on said applications
- Slowly cook for 3 months while in immense fear for results
- Check applicant status online at set date at set time for results
- Scream in happiness (if accepted)
- Graduate from college
- Complete internship (easier said than done, I'll soon find out)
- Take American Dietetic Association RD exam (and pass) and in some states, liscense exam
- Finally practice in a hospital
So, needless to say - I have my work cut out for me.
Where will you be living in Novi? Maybe if you're not totally swamped, we can meet up sometime when I'm back in Michigan. :) Good luck, Karly!
